Letters & 2 Month Stats

Unfortunately, due to Isaac's speech delay, Chad and I often do not realize exactly how much Isaac knows. Case in point. About a month before the baby arrived, we finally grasped that 25-month-old Isaac could identify every letter of the alphabet. Uppercase, lowercase, different fonts, it didn't matter. As this is a skill often learned much later, we didn't attempt to teach him his letters at that time. Leapfrog did via the game in the following picture. We thought he was just randomly pushing buttons until we listened to the game he was playing. He kept answering the questions correctly, so we started quizzing him. If I asked him which letter was a "C," he would point to it, etc. Oh, and we got out the bumbo for the baby. Thus far, Isaac has used it much more.

Letters are now his absolute favorite thing on TV, books, signs, fridge magnets, clothes, bath toys, and on and on. His fascination has really helped his speech development because he is so desparate to say all of them instead of simply pointing. He can now verbally identify the "M," "N," and "O." He is attempting to say "W" now. He'll pick up the "M" from his bath toy alphabet, say "M," and turn it over to attempt "W." You would think he'd pick a simpler sound for his next letter!On the word front, Isaac added four words last week which almost doubles his vocabulary. He's progressing so well, and we are very proud of him!

Micah is 2 months old today. He continues to grow and develop; he smiles regularly now and is starting to "talk." He loves lying on the play mat staring at the hanging toys. The baby acne hit him hard several weeks ago, and he still has remnants. His face is still a little rough looking.He's naturally moving toward a better night sleeping schedule. Because he was early, we can't sleep train him for another week or so. However, his natural transition makes me believe he won't fight the training too much. Famous last words.

He had his check-up last week and is now a completely average-sized baby. 11 lbs 8 oz (50th percentile), 22 5/8 inches long (45th percentile), and 15 inch head circumference (15-20th percentile). I apparently give birth to early, small, breech babies. But they catch up quickly!!
